A key part of our remit is to improve access to classics throughout the community and across ages. Membership is therefore open to everybody – we currently have members aged from 9 to 89 – and we offer a special educational package to schools.
In 2016, we held our first Classics Competition for local primary and secondary aged students: please click the link for more information and to get involved in the upcoming Classics Competition.
In 2016, we also launched our Classics Summer School Bursary Fund: the money from our raffles, donations and other fundraising projects enabled four students to attend the Classical Civilisation and Ancient History Summer School in Repton and in 2017 we have raised an amazing £900 to enable more students to attend this year’s inspiring Summer School.
This year we have also launched our latest initiative to promote and nurture classics in the area: the innovative Classics Ambassadors project. Please follow the link for more information and to find out how you can get involved.
We hope your students will be able to benefit from at least one of our outreach projects and look forward to receiving their applications.
